The Queen’s Head Bar & Eatery, one of Auckland’s oldest licensed pubs, is celebrating its refurbishment with a limited-edition Christmas Breeze cocktail and an exciting modern twist on Christmas lunch and dinner.

A five-course set menu will be available for lunch and dinner on Tuesday 25 December. The Christmas Breeze cocktail includes Bacardi rum, Malibu, coconut water and is garnished with cream, fresh mint and a maraschino cherry. It costs $18 if ordered as part of the set menu and $20 if ordered on its own. It will be available from 1 December until 26 December 2018.

The menu has been designed by Executive Chef, Glen Rockhouse. A fourth-generation chef, Glen works with regional suppliers to produce perfectly simple seasonal dishes that celebrate New Zealand ingredients.

“I wanted our first Christmas menu at the Queen’s Head Bar and Eatery to be fun, fresh and light – a chance for guests to experience a modern twist on traditional Christmas flavours, combined with Kiwi Christmas foods, which I often cook for my own family on Christmas Day,” explains Glen.

“We have used premium, seasonal New Zealand produce, such as Te Mana lamb, Ora King salmon, Canter Valley turkey, Freedom Farms ham and vegetables grown by local suppliers. It has given us the opportunity to showcase New Zealand ingredients at their very best.”

Christmas Day Menu

Bookings are strictly limited, costing $95 for adults and $65 for children under 12. A wine pairing menu is available for an additional $65 per person.

Amuse Bouche.

Line-caught snapper ceviche. Option to pair with Akarua Sparkling NV Brut.

Starter.

Saffron poached prawn with broad bean, fennel and pomegranate salad

and smoked paprika aioli. Option to pair with Babich Pinot Gris.

Entrée.

Free range turkey roulade filled with cream cheese, spinach, pumpkin seeds and prosciutto, roasted corn and capsicum, mulled wine and cranberry jelly. Option to pair with Wild Rock Chardonnay

Main.

Shared at the table family style

Glazed champagne free-range ham with mustard

8 hour braised Te Mana lamb shoulder with jus and mint sauce

King salmon with horseradish cream

New season buttered potatoes

Asparagus and sugar snap peas

Option to pair with Mission Estate Babernet Merlot.

Dessert.

Eton Mess, crushed berry meringue, vanilla cream, fresh seasonal berries and Valrhona 72% chocolate

Option to pair with Cloudy Bay Late Harvest Riesling

The Queen’s Head Bar & Eatery is well-known in Auckland with a history stretching back to the 1800s. It has been brought back to life by Four Points by Sheraton Auckland, the first Marriott International hotel to open in New Zealand.
