Charoen Pokphand Foods (CP Foods), one of the world’s leading food companies, has launched its popular CP Authentic Asia duck meal range in New Zealand. Freshly roasted and seasoned with a traditional blend of Chinese spices, the frozen products were launched after research revealed a distinct gap in the New Zealand market for convenient, great tasting, value-added duck brand that is available all year round.

The premium cooked duck products, which include a Peking Style Aromatic Crispy Duck Pancake Kit, Peking Style Aromatic Roasted Half Duck and Peking Style Slow Cooked Duck Legs will be available in all Foodstuffs North Island stores.

Andrew Turner, CP Foods Retail Manager for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, said:

“New Zealand consumers are becoming a lot more adventurous, partly driven by the popularity of cooking shows, and there has been a growing interest in duck. However, until now, supply in New Zealand has simply not been able to meet demand. Many Kiwi consumers are also unsure about how to cook and prepare duck at home. The enthusiasm is there but people can find the idea of preparing a whole, uncooked duck from scratch a bit intimidating.

“We have developed the CP Authentic Asia duck products to make preparing duck as easy and appealing as possible. Home cooks will now be able to experience the recipes and dishes that they had previously only been able to enjoy in restaurants.”

RRP for the Peking Style Aromatic Crispy Duck Pancake Kit (550g) is $27.99. RRP for both the Peking Style Aromatic Roasted Half Duck (300g) and Peking Style Slow Cooked Duck Legs is $18.99 (250g, two pieces).

Each product can be ready in 3-5 minutes and can be prepared in the oven, pan or microwave. The duck is extremely versatile and can replace any other protein to add life to a meal. Pasta dishes, salads, tacos, soups and traditional Asian recipes are just a few easy but delicious options.

The CP Authentic Asia brand is owned by Charoen Pokphand Foods in Thailand, one of the world’s largest and most successful food companies. CP Foods operates in 16 countries and exports products from Thailand to over 30 countries, reaching more than 4 billion people. CP Foods is the first company (and Thailand the first country) approved by MPI to import fully cooked duck into New Zealand.
