Churchills, a sparkling new rooftop gin bar with multi-million dollar views, is inviting bar industry movers and shakers from across the world to speak to them about one of the most exciting positions of 2019.
Due to open in the Auckland CBD in May 2019, Churchills is the crowning jewel of Four Points by Sheraton Auckland, Marriott International’s first hotel in New Zealand. Taking up part of the 20th floor, the 150 square metre bar makes full use of the sweeping, panoramic vistas of the city. There are extensive views to the west with balconies on both the north and south sides. Nowhere else in Auckland can visitors sip on a craft gin and tonic or glass of Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite champagne while enjoying views from the Waitemata Harbour through to the Waitakere Rainforest.
The successful candidate will have a significant part to play in many of the bar’s finishing details. They will be granted the freedom and opportunity to express their own creativity and to really make Churchills their own. In return, the hotel is looking for a manager that is self-motivated, has strong industry networks and comes from a world class bar background.

Award-winning interior designer, Paul Izzard has created an atmosphere of relaxed sophistication at Churchills, reminiscent of a Shanghai rooftop cocktail bar. The unique, innovative design and attention to detail is characteristic of Paul’s work, which includes Woodpecker Hill, Cassia, Giraffe, Baduzzi and The Grove.
The gin menu at Churchills will set a new standard, featuring ten types of gin, along with ten varieties of tonic and ten garnishes. Customers will be able to personalise their own gin cocktails simply by providing the number of their favourite gin, tonic and garnish from the menu. Churchills will source craft gins from around the world, including from boutique New Zealand distillers, with the selection rotated on a regular basis.
Gin tastings will be available, which can take place in one of the comfortable booths right in front of the bar (which can be curtained off) or in one of two private rooms. These rooms are accessible by staircase and provide space for up to 12 people.
For those that prefer bubbles, there will be an outstanding curated list of champagne, which will star Sir Winston’s Churchill’s favourite champagne, Pol Roger. The famous champagne maker’s Prestige Cuvee, which will head up the Churchills champagne menu, was created in homage to the former British Prime Minister. It embodies the qualities that he sought in his champagne: a full-bodied character and relative maturity. It is only made in the very best vintages and is always released later than the other vintage dated Champagnes from Pol Roger, marking Sir Winston Churchill’s appreciation for older wines.
