According to a survey run by Sudima Hotels, more than three-quarters of Kiwis are hoping their partners will surprise them with a getaway this spring. Almost 90 percent said that spontaneous holidays are romantic, and 93 percent revealed that they would be pleased if their significant other whisked them away on a trip.

Forty-four percent of New Zealanders polled said that they believed a romantic trip would help them put a much needed spark back into their relationship, 27 percent said that it would give them a happiness boost, and 17 percent reported that it would help relieve the stress of the year, and make them more productive at work.

Fortunately, it appears that Kiwis are a romantic bunch. The survey showed that 64 percent would be surprising their partners with a trip within the next six months. Just over 76% had plans to go on a short break within New Zealand, while the remainder had organised a holiday overseas.

The survey also highlighted some other areas where Kiwis wish their partners were more spontaneous. Among the women polled, this included helping with household chores (65%), cooking dinner (32%), and bringing home flowers (25%). The majority of men (78%) that responded wanted their partners to be more adventurous in the bedroom.

Commenting on the results, Renee Goodsell, Sudima Hotels Marketing Executive said:

“We always try and learn from our customers and what their habits and needs truly are. We’ve seen a growing trend in travelers, especially couples, booking spontaneous romantic trips, which is supported by this recent poll. That sparked the idea for our newest offering, the Sudima Ultimate VIP Package, the most exclusive package in the brand’s history, and ideal for people wanting to surprise their partners with a romantic experience to remember.”
